On the basis of doing a good job in exhibitions, a policy of “Getting better and more solid” will be adopted to organize the following events:

1. Three prizes and three award-giving ceremonies

1) Alcatel Company will for the third time launch the Alcatel Book of Photographer Prize in China. Prizes include a gold medal at a price of 50,000 yuan; one silver prized at 30,000 yuan; and one bronze at 10,000 yuan. Award-giving ceremony will be held simultaneously.

2) L’Oreal will for the third time give the L’Oreal Chinese Contemporary Photographers Prize, which include a gold medal at a price of 50,000 yuan; one silver prized at 30,000 yuan; and one bronze at 10,000 yuan. And award-giving ceremony will be held simultaneously.

3) Hachette Filipacchi Medias, a publishing giant in the world, will join in the festival and initiate Elle (China) Fashion Photography Competition. Prizes will be one gold prize at 100,000 yuan, one silver at 60,000 yuan, and one bronze at 40,000 yuan. And award-giving ceremony will be held simultaneously.

2. Slide Evenings

The screening sessions at the agricultural produce warehouse have been welcomed and loved by both domestic and international photographers. This year, three slide evenings will be scheduled, including two by foreign photographers and one by domestic photographers, involving ten photographers.

3. Chinese Photography Forums

Photography forums will still be held with the aim of further promoting photography exchange between China and the world, but with an emphasis this year on fashion photography and China’s photographic development.

4. The Chinese Photography Museum

The Chinese Photography Museum was unveiled last year, which was a big event in the history of Chinese photography. This year, we shall lay down all the rules and regulations in ways of institutional construction. Statues of Lang Jingshan, Mu Qing, Jiang Qisheng and Shi Shaohua, four well-known Chinese photographers, will be unveiled alongside with 200 photographs by the four photographers in the museum.

5. National touring exhibitions

After the closing of the 2004 PIPF, 100 – 150 high quality images will travel to Beijing and Shanghai for exhibition.

6. Photo trips

Tentative shooting routes will cover the Taihang Mountains in Jincheng and the Luya Mountains in Ningwu.

7. The editing and printing of 2004 PIPF catalogue and journals

1) To edit the 2004 PIPF catalogue;

2) To publish the No. 3 and No. 4 issues of the 2004 PIPF journal.

8. Updating the PIP Web site

PIP Web site is a medium linking Chinese and foreign photographers, as well as publicizing the festival. At present, people interested in the festival have voiced their requirements in this regard. So we shall employ as soon as possible professional personnel to update the Web pages so as to disseminate the 2004 PIP information to the outside world.
