Born in 1961, Chen Zhangping, a native of Danlin, Sichuan, has been a member of Chinese Artists Association, a member of Chinese Photographers Society, and a member of Beijing Modern Traditional Chinese Realistic Painting Association. He, an art major at College of Fine Arts of PLA, has been an artistic editor of PLA Pictorial.
He mainly makes the researches on traditional Chinese figure painting, landscape, flower-and-bird painting, oil painting, print, and photography. His works were on view at national and PLA art shows, won the prizes. Some of his works have been exhibited at the foreign and domestic exhibitions for many times, and were in private and public collections, including museums at home and abroad.
Exhibition: “Shaifo”
“Shaifo” (Xue Dun Festival), is one of traditional festivals with the longest history in Tibet, and also the grandest festival among all traditional festivals. Since 1995 Chen Zhangping has successively photographed the grand “Shaifo” of unprecedented size at Zhefeng Temple, and ones at Rigeze Temple and Zhabulun Temple in Tibet. In early 2003 his photographs covering a grand occasion to welcome the great Buddha by Tibet’s people is Chen Zhangping’s most favorite work.
